Te Reo Rangatira Examinations – Voice-over and Listening Audio Files available
Ākonga sitting any NCEA digital Te Reo Rangatira examinations in 2021 will be able to listen to the examination text by using a voice-over function, as well as being able to read it. The voice-over function covers instructions, questions and resources, and will be in place for digital practice and end-of-year examinations.
In addition, the listening assessment for Te Reo Rangatira Level 2 AS 91777 (Te whakarongo ki ngā tohunga reo) will include audio files. This means that a supervisor will no longer play listening assessment recordings centrally for this standard. Ākonga will control this themselves from their device. For this listening assessment, ākonga will have control over when they start listening to the full passage and each repeated recording. Once ākonga have started playing an audio file, it cannot be paused or played again.
Headphones required
Ākonga will need to use headphones to use the voice-over function, and/or complete the AS 91777 listening assessment digitally.

Samples available
Kaiako and ākonga can practise the new voice-over and audio file functions using the modified 2020 Te Reo Rangatira Level 2 examination which will be available at the start of Term 3. Once available, the past sample examination can be found by searching in the Student Exam Hub on the NZQA website.
