National secondary examinations timetable

We have shifted NCEA Level 1 exams to start later in the exam period, and to finish close to the same date as exams for the other levels.

We have identified that this time could provide valuable additional opportunities for students to learn and prepare for exams.

Compared to 2023, there are fewer Level 1 subjects with an end of year examination.

In 2024, NCEA Level 1 exams began at the start of the exam period, alongside exams for levels 2 and 3, but finished almost a week earlier.
