The Code attestation form for schools is due 1 December 2022
We will be emailing you in the coming weeks to explain the self-review attestation process.
Our email will include a link to an online attestation form which will take around 10 minutes to complete. Each link will be unique – please do not share your link.
We will email this link to your organisation’s key Code contact. If you need to update your contact details, please log in to your NZQA portal. You can access the portal on our website, please click here and select the 'Schools and Tertiary Education Organisations login'.

Code resources
We’ve developed a range of resources to support you to implement the Code.
Our Code guidance sets out expectations for interpreting and applying the Code:
Guidelines for Code Signatory schools (external link)
Our Code to Code comparison tool helps you match clauses of the previous international Code to the current Code:
Code to Code comparison for schools (external link)
We hope these resources will also support you to complete your self-review.
The Code applies to offshore learners
We’d like to remind you that the Code now applies to school learners based offshore (clause 3(4)).
Most schools do not enrol international learners based offshore, but a few do.
If this is you, you need to ensure all your pastoral care practices, including those undertaken by third party providers, are checked against the current Code to ensure compliance. Offshore practices also need to be included in your self-review.
Unless the Code specifies exactly what must be done and how, you have the flexibility and responsibility to determine what is appropriate. We expect you to take responsibility for determining what pastoral care practices are appropriate for your offshore learners.
If you have any questions about your offshore provision under the Code, please contact us via the details below.
