How the comparison works
A joint project between NZQA and the Hong Kong Education Bureau found that the frameworks of the two countries can be comparable, even if there are some differences in how they work and their aims.
The project was part of the Education Cooperation Agreement, under the New Zealand – Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership (CEP). The agreement helps New Zealand and Hong Kong to better understand, and have more confidence in, each other’s processes for quality assurance and recognising qualifications.
The comparison makes it easier for education providers and employers to understand how qualifications compare to similar local qualifications.
It does not guarantee that New Zealand or Hong Kong will automatically recognise a qualification as equivalent.
