About New Zealand Scholarship assessment
Assessment for New Zealand Scholarship is held externally at the end of each school year.
We aim to provide New Zealand Scholarship results to candidates about mid-February in the year following assessment.
Who usually does New Zealand Scholarship assessments?
Generally, New Zealand Scholarship assessments are undertaken by Year 13 students, most of whom are also studying towards NCEA Level 3.
Passing grades for New Zealand Scholarship
Each New Zealand Scholarship assessment carries two passing grades, Scholarship (S) and Outstanding Scholarship (O).
Cut scores
New Zealand Scholarship score ranges provide the scores required for results of Scholarship and Outstanding Scholarship in each subject. They show how your results compare to those of other New Zealand Scholarship students.
These are made available once New Zealand Scholarship results are released each year.

Accessing your results
You can access your New Zealand Scholarship assessment results from about mid-February in the year following assessment. You can find your results online in the learners portal.
New Zealand Scholarship reconsideration and review forms and New Zealand Scholarship monetary award application forms are available from the learners portal.

If you're eligible for a monetary award, information about how to apply will be displayed with your New Zealand Scholarship results.
Reconsiderations and reviews
After looking closely at your marked exams, portfolios, and Performance Summary Cards when they have been returned in February, you may want to apply for a review or reconsideration of your result.
