About this consultation
NZQA reviews the New Zealand Scholarship subject list every 2 years in consultation with the education sector and other interested groups.

The reviews aim to:
- maintain the credibility of New Zealand Scholarship
- ensure subjects are relevant
- meet government and sector expectations
- ensure significant numbers of potential Scholarship candidates have shown the ability to perform with excellence at NCEA Level 3
- ensure there is a workforce with sufficient experience in Scholarship subjects to support quality assessments at the appropriate level.

How to provide feedback
We welcome proposals to include any new subjects on the Scholarship subject list, or to exclude any current subjects.

Please provide your proposal or feedback by Friday 11 July, 2025.
After the consultation
After the consultation, the NZQA Board will consider the feedback and decide on any changes to the Scholarship subject list.
The outcome will be published online in October 2025 and shared with the sector.
Any changes will take effect from the 2027 school year.
