With great sorrow, NZQA acknowledges the life and service of former Chief Executive, Dr Grant Klinkum, who passed away on Friday 18 September.
Holding a wide range of professional roles in education - including 6 years as an NZQA Deputy Chief Executive and almost 6 years as Chief Executive - Grant had an enduring commitment to supporting learner success and achievement, along with a strong belief that everyone has the right to benefit from education.
In his final message to staff, Grant reflected on NZQA’s mission and ability to have an outsized impact on education outcomes. He also described his time leading NZQA as a career highlight, helping to build a high performing and well-regarded entity that supports robust, reliable and relevant qualifications.
