Christian Hawkesby has been appointed as acting Chief Executive of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), following the resignation of Dr Grant Klinkum due to ill health.
“Christian has experience at leading organisations through difficult times, including as Reserve Bank Governor from April to November 2025” says NZQA Board Chair, Kevin Jenkins.
“With important changes underway across both secondary and tertiary education, Christian will maintain momentum, while supporting NZQA’s people,” Kevin Jenkins says.
Christian will take up the role on Monday 24 August.
