Why we need verification
Verification makes sure:
- your qualifications are genuine
- that New Zealand employers, professional registration bodies, education providers and government agencies can trust the recognition outcomes when making decisions.
Verification also makes the evaluation process faster.
You are responsible for any costs associated with providing an acceptable form of verification or additional information.

How we verify your documents
Verification is how we confirm that the qualification documents you submit for evaluation are genuine.
We do this by receiving information about your qualification from your awarding organisation or an accepted verification organisation.
We cannot recognise qualifications without acceptable forms of verification.

Verification.
Why is it important when recognising a qualification?
Verification is the process of checking or proving that something exists, is true, or correct. This is achieved by receiving information directly from the source or through a trusted and independent third party.
You need to provide an acceptable form of verification for your nominated qualifications’ award certificate, and transcripts, academic records, or mark sheets.
Verification is a powerful tool in the fight against global education fraud.
Our evaluation outcomes are used by New Zealand organisations to better understand your overseas qualification for immigration, employment, or further study purposes.
Verification supports and protects your achievements and ensures that employers, education providers, and government agencies can trust our evaluation outcome when making decisions.
We accept the following forms of verification:
- your institution's or government authority's online platform
- direct verification from your awarding organisation or
- a trusted and independent qualifications verification service.
Which form of acceptable verification you choose depends on your awarding organisation and personal circumstances.
Some countries and awarding organisations have ways for people to verify your documents using an online platform using:
- the details in your award certificate
- a QR code
- or other unique identification code.
We may also accept electronic copies of your award certificate or diploma and complete transcript of records or mark sheets if they are sent directly to us by the relevant awarding organisation staff, such as the university Registrar or student academic administrator.
For this form of verification, the sender must use an official email address of the awarding organisation and email any evidence or documentation directly to QRSenquiries@nzqa.govt.nz. We cannot accept an email which has been forwarded.
If your awarding organisation does not allow for electronic records, please do not arrange for physical copies of your award documents to be sent to NZQA. This is not an acceptable form of verification.
In this case, please use an approved qualifications verification service to provide verification of your award documents.
Again, good luck with your application and we look forward to seeing you in Aotearoa New Zealand.

QRSenquiries@nzqa.govt.nz

Beripikasyon
