How the comparison works
A joint project between NZQA and the Hong Kong Education Bureau found that while there are conceptual and functional differences between the countries' frameworks, they can be considered comparable.
The project was completed as part of the Education Cooperation Agreement, under the New Zealand – Hong Kong, China Closer Economic Partnership (CEP). The agreement encourages exchanges between New Zealand and Hong Kong to develop greater understanding of, and confidence in, each other’s quality assurance and qualifications recognition processes.
The comparison is intended to make it easier for education providers and employers to understand the qualification and how it compares to similar qualifications in their country. Our arrangement with Hong Kong does not guarantee that a qualification completed in the other country will be automatically recognised as equivalent.
