How the comparison works
NZQA and the Philippines Commission on Higher Education (CHED) have completed a joint project as part of a Memorandum of Cooperation to compare Bachelor’s Degrees.
The project found that New Zealand Bachelor’s Degrees and some Philippines Bachelor’s Degrees can be considered comparable.
The Philippines Bachelor’s Degrees that can be considered comparable are:
- awarded in or after 2022 and listed on the Philippines Qualifications Register (PhQuaR) with the following information:
- Philippines Qualification Framework (PQF) qualification with CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) or Board Resolution or Commission en Banc Resolution, with a date of authorisation
- PQF Level 6 (VI)
- Authority Granting Agency: CHED
In addition, the programme must be:
- delivered by an autonomous or deregulated higher education institution, or
- delivered by a CHED designated Centre of Excellence or Centre of Development, or
- accredited as Level 2, 3 or 4 by a CHED recognised Accreditation Agency at the time of study.
The comparison is intended to make it easier for education providers and employers to understand the qualification and how it compares to similar qualifications in their country.
The project does not guarantee that a qualification completed in the other country will be automatically recognised as equivalent.
