About Tūmahi Aromatawai Pātahi

Tūmahi Aromatawai Pātahi (TAPā) is an assessment similar to a Common Assessment Activity. It's conducted online in our digital assessment platform, Assessment Master.

TAPā is the term used to describe an external assessment administered by kura.

Things to know

  • TAPā assessments are supervised and administered by kura.
  • Kura and kaiako can design independent plans and schedules. For example, 3 sessions could be scheduled daily at 9 to 11 am, 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, and 2.30 to 4 pm.
  • You can refer to Tautuhinga Aromatawai ā-Waho (the assessment specifications) for assessment durations, such as 90 mins. These will be made available in December.
  • The assessment time starts once the student has logged in to Assessment Master.

About Kete Manarua

Kete Manarua is a collection of student evidence that's prepared for digital submission and required to achieve the achievement standard.

We're offering Kete Manarua in response to feedback from schools who piloted new achievement standards. We want to support the autonomy of teaching and learning for teachers and students. We also want to support the gathering of evidence in naturally occurring assessment settings throughout the year.

Things to know

  • Kete Manarua is a digital submission. Kura must submit a portfolio of learner evidence, such as a performance recording or a visual diary.
  • Students and teachers should know which portal to submit Kete Manarua for marking, the new or existing system.
  • All Kete Manarua must be submitted to NZQA for marking by the close date.
