Tūmahi Aromatawai Pātahi (TAPA) - Common Assessment Activity

Tūmahi Aromatawai Pātahi is an assessment similar to a Common Assessment Activity. The assessment is conducted digitally in Assessment Master. TAPA is the term used to describe an external assessment administered by kura.

  • TAPA are supervised and administered by kura.
  • Kura and kaiako can design independent plans and schedules. For example 3 sessions could be scheduled daily at 9 to 11 am, 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, and 2.30 to 4 pm.
  • Refer to Tautuhinga Aromatawai ā-Waho (the Assessment specifications) for assessment durations, such as 90 mins. These will be made available in December.
  • The time will start once the student has logged in to Assessment Master.

Kete Manarua

Kete Manarua is a collection of student evidence that has been prepared for digital submission and is required to achieve the achievement standard.

We are offering Kete Manarua in response to feedback from schools who piloted the achievement standards in recent years. We want to support the autonomy of teaching and learning for teachers and students. We also want to support the gathering of evidence in naturally occurring assessment settings throughout the year.

  • Kete Manarua is a digital submission where kura are required to submit a portfolio of learner evidence such as, a recording of a performance or a visual diary.
  • Students and teachers should know which portal to submit Kete Manarua for marking, the new or existing system.
  • All Kete Manarua must be submitted to NZQA for marking by the close date.

How to submit Kete Manarua

Guidance for submitting Kete Manarua using the new and existing systems can be found on the NZQA website.
