- standard (non-scientific or non-graphing) calculators or
- approved scientific and graphing calculators in the list below.

Scientific and graphing calculators allowed for specific subjects
The scientific and graphing calculators listed below are approved for the following NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship examination subjects:

- Science.
Calculators are not permitted in other NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship examinations.
