Commentary
Excellence
Commentary
For Excellence, the student needs to conduct a comprehensive inquiry to propose a digital technologies outcome.
This involves drawing insightful conclusions about the findings of the research in relation to the inquiry question(s) and the proposed outcome.
There is no student work currently available at this grade.
The student has drawn insightful conclusions about the findings of the research in relation to the inquiry question(s) and the proposed outcome. For example, their evidence shows an accurate and in-depth understanding of how the research relates to the inquiry questions and potential outcome. They have synthesised evidence from all three aspects.
Merit
Commentary
For Merit, the student needs to conduct an in-depth inquiry to propose a digital technologies outcome.
This involves:
- analysing the implications and perspectives that impact on the proposed outcome
- discussing the impact of the findings of the research in relation to the inquiry question(s) and the proposed outcome.
There is no student work currently available at this grade.
The student has analysed the implications and perspectives that impact on the proposed outcome. For example, they have:
- carried out a detailed examination of the possible implications of the proposed outcome
- gone further than just considering the relevant implications
- evaluated different perspectives that may arise from the proposed outcome
- reached conclusions about possible considerations, and looked at different viewpoints that may impact their proposed outcome.
The student has discussed the impact of the findings of the research in relation to the inquiry question(s) and the proposed outcome. For example, they have:
- ensured clear links between the inquiry questions, any changes to these question(s), and the impact this may have on both end-users and the digital outcome
- discussed how multiple end-users might have differing perspectives on the proposed outcome
- clearly addressed the inquiry questions, implications and perspectives.
Achieved
Commentary
For Achieved, the student needs to conduct an inquiry to propose a digital technologies outcome.
This involves:
- deciding on an inquiry focus and developing an inquiry question(s) linked to digital technologies
- undertaking research to gather information
- organising and analysing information
- proposing a digital technologies outcome to the inquiry
- summarising the findings of the research in relation to the inquiry question(s) and the proposed outcome
- establishing and meeting agreed milestones of the inquiry.
There is no student work currently available at this grade.
The student has decided on an inquiry focus and developed an inquiry question(s) linked to digital technologies. For example, they have explored how digital technologies can provide information and potential solutions for plastic in the oceans. The focus and questions were broad enough to enable the student choice from a range of possible digital technologies outcomes without limiting the type of outcome proposed.
Relevant research has been undertaken to inform and explain how digital technologies could provide a solution to the inquiry question. The student has researched ways that digital technologies are used for helping with environmental issues, and analysed how to apply these to solutions for reducing plastic in the ocean. They have looked at existing systems, information, and what and where plastic/recycling/waste/ocean damage etc. occurs. It is not expected that all gathered information is presented.
Information has been organised and analysed using a table. A concise summary and analysis of the findings is presented, explaining and interpreting how the research relates to the outcome.
The student has proposed a digital technologies outcome containing enough information to guide them in its development. This could include purpose, end-users, scope, requirements and specifications, and resources needed to create the outcome.
A brief outline summarises the findings of the research in relation to the inquiry question(s) and the proposed outcome.
The student has established and met the agreed milestones of the inquiry by showing evidence of an ongoing cycle of inquiry and reflection, and this was managed and documented using an online tool (Trello).
