For Achieved, the learner needs to write two texts on personal topics using phrases and simple sentences.
This involves:
- clearly communicating information which relates to the personal topic
- hand-writing at least 20 words accurately and legibly in each text, using a minimum of six different phrases and/or simple sentences
- following standard conventions with regard to letter and number formation, placement and size of symbols, letter case, word boundaries and full stops
- conveying the meaning of each written text, although there may be some errors and inaccuracies.
This learner has written about a classmate.
Information is communicated clearly and relates to the topic.
Ten simple sentences are written legibly.
The writing follows standard conventions in letter formation, spelling and word boundaries.
For a more secure Achieved, control over the use of full-stops and third person verb forms is required. The learner would need to avoid errors in third person verb forms (1) and a range of inaccuracies, including word order, repeated subject, word form and word choice. The learner would also need to avoid lapses in control of letter case (2), and show control over full-stops, rather than the six comma splice sentences that the learner used (3).
