Clarification details
Updated May 2015. This document has been updated, but there are no new moderation issues.
The purpose of clarifications
We create clarification documents to help people understand the current requirements of achievement standards. Clarifications do not introduce new criteria, change the intent of the standard, or change what we expect from assessment.
These documents unpack and explain the language and intent of the standard so people interpret and apply the standard consistently. We provide examples or guidance as illustrations only. They are not prescriptions or requirements.
For official requirements, always refer to the current version of the achievement standard as published by NZQA.
Stylistic requirements of the genre
Details on the specific stylistic requirements of the dance form being used to assess this standard need to be provided in order for students to have sufficient opportunity to understand the style and communicate their understanding at every level of achievement.
Task materials should reflect the wording and intention of this standard, rather than using the previous wording of technique, focus and expression. Whilst these aspects are still important, it is necessary to define these through the achievement levels using in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the style to be consistent with the Achievement Criteria.
