Changes to Latin
Latin is no longer available at NCEA Level 1.
Latin was assessed at New Zealand Scholarship level for the last time in 2025. Due to the low and dwindling numbers of candidates entering Latin examinations over the years, the Technical Overview Group, Assessment made the difficult decision in 2021 to discontinue the Scholarship Latin examinations from 2026 after consultation with the sector. Latin will also not be available as an NCEA subject after 2029.
