Demonstrating understanding

The standard requires students to demonstrate understanding of concepts of democracy and government.

Students are expected to be able to describe three characteristics of a liberal democracy and three characteristics of another form of government, for example a theocracy, an oligarchy or a dictatorship. For Excellence, students need to demonstrate insightful understanding of concepts of democracy and government by including a range of similarities and differences between each form of government, supported by relevant detail.
