Assessor judgements statements
Formal teacher feedback to students on internal assessment achievement regularly takes the form of a written assessment report. Effective feedback establishes the link between the assessment criteria and the assessor judgement. Best practice sees the assessment schedule used in making judgements also used in feedback to the learner. Teacher feedback should be included in moderation submissions to further assist the moderator understand how decisions have been reached.

Presentation of audio-visual material for moderation
CD and DVD evidence should only contain material for moderation. Where possible, evidence should be submitted on one disk.
Using shared resource material from TKI, MusicNet and other sources
TKI and MusicNet provide a series of resource materials that may be customised and used by schools when designing assessment tasks for internally assessed standards.
It is important that any shared resources from these or other sources are critiqued using the school's internal moderation procedures to ensure that they meet the national standard. Schools are also encouraged to customise shared resources they wish to use for their own situation.
Composition, instrumentation and arrangement standards: written notation and audio evidence
All composition standards require students to submit both visual and audio representation. Visual representation will convey compositional intent and be appropriate to genre. Audio recordings provided for moderation must be stand-alone audio files. This enables moderators to hear the same audio evidence as teachers heard when assessing student work.
Sibelius notation files cannot be accepted as audio evidence unless the sound has been exported as .mp3, .wav (Windows) or .aiff (MacOSX) audio format.
Use of exemplars
Annotated exemplars have been produced for all internally assessed achievement standards and can be found on the Music subject page. These exemplify the national standard.
Teachers should become very familiar with the exemplars. They should be used to assist in determining where the assessment boundaries lie.
