Contemporary leadership principles
Students will show their understanding of leadership in a broad sense and from a more contemporary perspective, rather than simply considering the autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire styles.
More than one contemporary leadership principle should be used in the examination.
Physical activity contexts
The contemporary leadership principles should be applied in more than one physical activity context.
Research
Clear evidence of research from a range of sources is expected for each contemporary leadership principle being examined related to physical activity contexts.
Drawing conclusions
Student responses must provide clearly identified conclusions about the contemporary leadership principles’ relevance and suitability for physical activity contexts. These conclusions should be justified (why/why not) and supported with researched evidence and the student’s own application of the contemporary leadership principles.
For Merit, coherent conclusions should be clear and connected.
For Excellence, coherent and insightful conclusions should be clear, connected and show deeper understanding.
Questioning and challenging assumptions
Student responses must provide a critical evaluation that includes clearly identifying assumptions about contemporary leadership principles and how these are applied. These assumptions are required to be questioned and challenged.
Referencing
Although referencing is a valuable skill when researching work, this is not part of the criteria. Students are assessed on their examination/critical examination of the contemporary leadership principles.
