AS 91600 Clarification

Clarification for AS 91600: Examine a campaign of social action(s) to influence policy change(s)

Clarification details

Updated December 2020. The sections ‘Reasons for involvement vs reasons for actions’ and ‘Points of view, values and perspectives’ and ‘policy’, have been updated to address new issues that has arisen from moderation.

Policy

The policy means a rule, a law, a strategy, a procedure, or a plan. Attempting to influence policy must be central to the social actions described.

Reasons for involvement vs reasons for actions

‘Reasons for involvement’ requires students to identify the different motivations and reasons for why at least two different individuals and/or groups chose to be involved in the social action.

‘Reasons for actions’ requires students to explain what actions were taken by the individuals and/or groups, and then explain why individuals and/or groups selected the actions they did within the campaign.

Modifications and/or changes to the campaign

To meet the Excellence requirements of this standard, students need to consider modifications and/or changes to the campaign that would have an influence on policy, not just modifications and/or changes.

Points of view, values and perspectives

For 91600, points of view, values and perspectives must clearly link to the issue.
