Clarification for US 9001: Conduct a directed quantitative sociological enquiry

Updated December 2017. This document has been updated in its entirety to address issues that have arisen from moderation.

Directed enquiry

The area of the enquiry, research question or hypothesis and the research method can be determined by the teacher.

Enquiry process

Evidence for the entire process is required. This includes:

  • identifying the research question
  • collection of quantitative data
  • analysis of the data to provide findings and a conclusion. The conclusion needs to use sociological concepts.

Ethical issues

Evidence that the student understands and considers relevant ethical issues needs to be noted.
