Changes to NCEA Literacy and Numeracy
Many of you have asked about changes to Literacy and Numeracy for NCEA.
Here's what changed:
From 2024, students must pass the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisite requirements to gain an NCEA qualification
There are 3 dedicated Literacy and Numeracy standards. Students need 10 Literacy and 10 Numeracy credits to pass NCEA.
Credits needed to pass NCEA change
Another NCEA change is the number of credits needed to pass NCEA.
Students need 80 credits in total to complete each level of NCEA. 20 of those credits must be Literacy and Numeracy
Students only need to earn their Literacy and Numeracy credits once. For example, Lani earns 10 Literacy and 10 Numeracy credits during her Level 1 NCEA certificate. She won't need to repeat these credits during her Level 2 NCEA certificate.
