Approval, accreditation and registration are part of the initial entry processes for tertiary education organisations (TEOs), and an important part of our quality assurance system.
These processes define our quality requirements for TEOs and the programmes they provide.
They also help ensure that TEOs operating in or from New Zealand provide quality education for students that meets our rules and the Education and Training Act 2020.
Approval
Permission to develop or implement a new quality assured education product.
Accreditation
Permission to use or deliver an NZQA-approved programme or micro-credential that has already been developed, including those developed by other TEOs.
Registration
Recognition by NZQA as a private training establishment (PTE). Only registered PTEs can apply to NZQA for approvals or accreditations.
