Review of Core Generic Unit Standards

Closed 11 April 2022

Current

NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) is reviewing unit standards listed on the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS) in three domains in Subfield Core Generic during 2022, as part of their regular maintenance cycle.

The domains are:

We invite expressions of interest in participating in the review, either as a member of the review panel or as part of the supporting email network.

We are also inviting pre-review feedback on these standards to inform the review.

Review panel

The review panel will ideally have up to six members.  Individually each panellist will:

  • have wide expertise, and credibility, prestige, and mana within the sector
  • have direct experience with Core Generic unit standards
  • understand and be committed to best practice in standards-based assessment
  • be able to work collaboratively for the common good
  • be available for the panel meetings.

Collectively, the panel will as far as possible be representative of all stakeholder groups.  Panellists will also be part of the email network.

We propose to convene the panel for an online introductory hui in late April and up to three two-day in-person hui in May, June, and July to:

  • examine the current standards and decide whether/how they need to be amended so that they continue to meet identified needs; and
  • where relevant, decide whether other new standards are also needed.

We will also convene the panel at other times by telephone and/or online where relevant, and for a one-day in-person hui in September if required.

We pay a fee for service to panellists, including for conference calls and online meetings, and we meet all travel and accommodation expenses.

If you wish to apply to be a panellist, please email the Application/Nomination (external link) to nqs@nzqa.govt.nz by Monday 11 April 2022.

Email network

Members of the email network will receive updates with opportunities to contribute feedback, opinions, and ideas. We are happy to add people to the email network at any time.

If you wish to be included in the email network, please send your request to nqs@nzqa.govt.nz.

Feedback

Any feedback or interpretation issues with the unit standards that might inform the review panel can be forwarded to nqs@nzqa.govt.nz.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to the ongoing quality of these standards.
