Proposal to expire Niue Arts (traditional dance performance) unit standards

NZQA National Qualification Services (NQS) invites feedback on the review and proposed expiry of the of the following Niue Arts (traditional dance performance) unit standards.

The proposed last date for assessment to take place is likely to be 31 December 2024.

These unit standards have been recommended for expiry as part of a scheduled review and following research that identified low and declining usage over time and community demand for achievement standards in this space.

The NCEA Review of Achievement Standards for Dance will enable rich engagement with mātauranga Māori, Pacific, and many other cultures. Students in Dance will connect to the wider world by embracing the diversity of people, cultures and contexts, inclusive of the ethnically and culturally diverse dance traditions of the Pacific. New achievement standards will allow schools to validate the traditions and contemporary expressions of Niue dance.
