NCEA and NZ Scholarship exams end for 2024

29 November 2024

NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship exams for 2024 are coming to an end this morning, with around 144,500 students across New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Niue having been entered over the last four weeks.

“The last of this year’s 121 exam sessions are for NCEA Level 2 Dance and New Zealand Scholarship Earth & Space Science,” says NZQA Deputy Chief Executive Assessment, Jann Marshall.

“Improvements made to our digital assessment platform and processes over the last year enabled students to complete more than 150,000 exams digitally. This is a new record, and more than double the number of students who completed a digital exam last year.”

“To all the students, congratulations on your hard work, I hope you have a safe and relaxing summer.”

“If you’re a student nervous about your results or concerned you may not achieve the credits you need, there is information and support on the NZQA website.”

“I also acknowledge and thank whānau, teachers, schools and exam centre staff for the critical roles they play in supporting students,” Jann Marshall says.

NCEA results for 2024 will be released online on 15 January 2025 and New Zealand Scholarship results will be released on 11 February 2025.

Following these dates, students will also be able to see their assessed NCEA exam papers online from 21 January, while NZ Scholarship papers will be available online from 11 February.

In preparation for the release of results, the secure Student Login will be unavailable from 10 January until results are available on 15 January.

“We know that students will be very eager to access their results, and we recommend students practise logging into the Student Login before Christmas, so they won’t need to find their login details or reset their password on release day.

“If students do have problems with their student login, NZQA’s chatbot ‘Awhina’ is available 24 hours a day to help students find their National Student Number (NSN) and create their login. If Awhina is unable to provide an answer, students can call us on 0800 697 296 between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday (9am-5pm Wednesdays),” Jann Marshall says.
