New Māori Performing Arts Assessment Support Materials

Māori Qualifications Services are pleased to offer new videos for the following standards:

22756 - Perform a Māori performing arts bracket, Level 2

32955 - Perform a Māori performing arts bracket with expression, Level 3

32956 - Perform a complete Māori performing arts bracket, Level 4 

These resources are to help teachers and tutors assess ākonga against the relevant Māori Performing Arts assessment standards listed in the Directory of Assessment and Skill Standards Listing and Operational Rules 2022 (DASS).

Assessors can use the assessment support material for the Māori Performing Arts (MPA) assessment standards to develop tasks and assessment schedules.

The new videos have been added to the assessment support materials library of MPA performance videos.  You can watch video examples showing demonstrations of whakaeke, mōteatea, waiata ā-ringa, poi, haka, whakawātea/whakamutunga.  Some performances include rākau, patu, tīrākau and tītītōrea.

We would like to acknowledge the students from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae, Te Wharekura o Rakaumangamanga and Raukura Kapa Haka (Rotorua Boys’ High School and Rotorua Girls’ High School) who feature in the videos, and the efforts of those who contributed to create this practical resource.
