Summary of feedback on the draft integrated Quality Assurance Framework (iQAF)

13 March 2025

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has released a summary of the feedback received [PDF, 498 KB] during public consultation on proposals for a new integrated Quality Assurance Framework (iQAF).

Consultation from October to December 2024 covered proposals for the high-level design proposed for iQAF, that included:

  • the quality assurance cornerstones that set out roles and responsibilities;
  • the enablers which underpin a supportive and responsive regulatory environment that encourages compliance and continuous improvement; and
  • the levers and related regulatory activities for NZQA to effect change where this is needed.

We received 62 submissions from groups and individuals with existing involvement in tertiary education; and thank all submitters for their insightful and valuable feedback.

Overall, the high-level design for iQAF and its key components were well-received, with many submitters interested in the next layer of detail on how the new framework will work in practice.

The feedback is informing the next phase of work, where NZQA is further developing the framework and quality assurance rules, tools and processes. Public consultation on these will occur later in 2025.
