The information and resources on this page are for schools and students using the new digital submissions tool in the MyNZQA portal.
Almost all NCEA and NZ Scholarship standards with a submission component are now submitted through the new digital submissions tool.
Only some NCEA and Scholarship standards are still submitted by schools on students' behalf through the previous system. These standards won't appear in the new submissions tool.
We'll provide submission instructions for these subjects to Principal’s Nominees, who manage digital submissions. Some submission instructions are also available on the subject pages.

Digital submissions make it easy for you to manage your students’ digital assessments and submit them for marking.
Start by logging in to the MyNZQA school portal.
Once you are logged in, click Digital submissions from the side menu. You will see a list of subjects to choose from.
Click on a row to select a subject.
Now you’ll see a list of standards for that subject.
The Submissions column shows us how many students have been submitted out of the total number entered into that standard.
Click a standard to view more detail.
On the standard’s page you will see a list of students who are enrolled, the number of files each student has uploaded, the types of files they have uploaded, and Status.
When the status is Open, students can upload their own files.
Once they’ve finished, they can send their files for review. Their status will change to Ready for review and the student will no longer be able to make any changes.
At times there may be a need for teachers to upload files for students. To do this, click on the student.
Click Upload files.
Select the files from your computer and click Open.
Click the cross to close the pop up.
You can also drag and drop files into the list area.
You can click Mark as ready for review, or if you’ve already checked the files, you can click the Update or change status dropdown, select Reviewed, and Confirm. The status is now Reviewed.
To return to the list of students, click on the standard’s number in the breadcrumbs.
It’s important that files are checked by a teacher before they are submitted for marking.
Select a student whose status is Ready for review.
Click View/Download for each file to download them to your computer. Then go to your downloads folder and find and open the files.
If the incorrect file has been uploaded, or the file’s name includes the student’s full name, you will need to delete the file.
Click Remove and confirm by clicking Yes, I’m sure.
If you want a student to remove their own file or upload a new file, their status needs to be changed back to Open.
Click the Update or change status dropdown, select the Open status, and confirm. Ask the student to upload the correct or renamed file.
If you suspect the file isn’t the student’s own work, the file is still submitted, but follow the process to report a possible breach.
From the student’s page you can also mark them as Not submitting by clicking the toggle. Click again to change it back to Submitting.
Once you’ve checked all the files have been correctly uploaded, you can click Mark as reviewed or Submit for marking, depending on the process your school is following. We’ll select Submit for marking and click Submit to confirm.
Notice once the status is Submitted, you can no longer change the status, upload, or remove files.
You will need to talk to your Principal’s Nominee if you need to make any changes.
Click the breadcrumbs to return to the standard.
The list of students is ordered alphabetically by surname. You can click a column heading to sort by a different column or reverse the order.
You can also search for a student by using CTRL + F (or Command/⌘ + F on a Mac) and typing the student’s name. Names that match your typing are highlighted on the page.
From the standard you can also select multiple students to submit or mark as not submitting.
First, we’ll select Mark students as not submitting.
Click the tick boxes to select the students. When you’re ready, click the Mark as not submitting button, and confirm.
Their status will now display Not submitting.
Next, we’ll select Submit students for marking.
You can select students individually or click the top tick box to select all the students. Notice it doesn’t select students marked as Submitted or Not submitting.
We’ll just select the students with the Reviewed status, as we know their files have been checked.
When you’re ready, click Submit students for marking, and confirm by clicking Submit.
Talk to your Principal’s Nominee if you need to change a submitted status or make late submissions.
