Mau Rākau

Assessment support materials for Mau Rākau unit standards for secondary and tertiary kaiako

NZQA Mau Rakau

Kia ora, nau mai haere mai

Welcome to the Assessment Support Materials for Mau Rākau.

Mau Rākau unit standards focus on learners understanding the importance of this traditional Māori martial art. The unit standards specialise in ancestral practices, values, and protocols of the warrior. Mau Rākau is rich in culture and traditional practice.

The standards are categorised into three kaupapa – Te Mau Rākau, Te Parawhakawai and Te Rangatiratanga Mau Rākau.

The resources on this page are designed to help teachers and tutors assess ākonga against the relevant Mau Rākau unit standards listed in the Directory of Assessment and Skill Standards (DASS).

If you're an assessor, you can use the assessment support material for the Mau Rakau unit standards to develop your own tasks and assessment schedules.
