Our process for new programme requests

The process for requests from kura, schools or tertiary organisations (TEOs) to deliver programmes owned by Māori Qualifications Services (MQS)

1

Request permission to deliver a programme that MQS owns

As a kura, school or TEO, you can decide which MQS-owned programme you want to deliver and email MQS to ask for permission.

Email MQS
2

Complete the programme request form and apply

Download and complete the programme request form.

When you apply, send evidence that the Principal's Nominee, the Principal or CEO and/or the Academic Board support the request, and that you can deliver the programme over a long period of time.

3

MQS evaluates your request

MQS evaluates your request and sends you a letter or an email with the outcome. The request might be supported or not supported.

If MQS doesn't support your request, we will tell you why and what issues you need to fix for future requests.

If MQS supports your request, we will give you programme guidance resources, support materials and the Ākonga assessment support materials.

4

Apply for accreditation

If MQS supports your request, you can apply to NZQA for provider accreditation. This will let you deliver the programme in your kura, school or TEO.

Include MQS' letter or email of support in your application to NZQA.

If you want your accreditation application to reflect kaupapa Māori in your kura, school or TEO, you can apply through Te Hono o te Kahurangi.

NZQA gives you an outcome for your application

NZQA will evaluate your application for provider accreditation, then tell you the outcome.
