Extra Writing Time is a Special Assessment Condition (SAC) that gives students who need it additional writing time in an assessment.
When students can request Extra Writing Time
Students with a Computer Use or Writer SAC provision may request Extra Writing Time instead. They can do this for assessments in selected subjects where using a computer or Writer may not be easy.
Students:
- must be entered in NCEA for more than 2 standards or New Zealand Scholarship
- must not already have an Extra Writing Time provision
- must select the whole exam session, not individual standards.
For internal time-bound assessments and Common Assessment Actvities (CAAs), schools can offer extra time in the same subjects and levels. The rate is 10 minutes per hour.
