Results from Literacy and Numeracy assessment events

Participation and attainment data for recent years' Literacy and Numeracy and Te Reo Matatini me te Pāngarau co-requisite assessments

2024

In 2024, over 100,000 students participated in either the first or second assessment event in one or more assessments (Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Te Reo Matatini Te Reo Torohū, Te Reo Matatini Te Reo Whakaputa me te Pāngarau). Just over half of the students participating were in Year 10. Students have multiple opportunities throughout their NCEA experience to achieve the new standards.

In 2022 and 2023, there was only one Te Reo Matatini standard of 10 credits with reading, writing and oral components. For 2024, this single standard was replaced with two 5-credit standards: Te Reo Torohū and Te Reo Whakaputa.

The following table shows results from assessments attempted in 2024. Where a student was assessed in both May/June and September, only the last result is counted when determining the overall results for the year. Overall results for Te Reo Matatini me te Pāngarau will be released early in the new year, to include the kete manarua results.
