Excellence

Commentary

For Excellence, the student needs to interact skilfully in Korean to share and respond to information, ideas, and opinions.

This involves successfully using interactive strategies that enhance the conversation and a range of language. Communication will not be hindered by inconsistencies.

The assessed student is on the right in video 1 and the left in video 2.

The student has skilfully interacted in Korean, using a range of language successfully and building on aspects of the information, ideas, and opinions exchanged, e.g. “왜냐하면 연말 여름이에요. 그래서 밖에서 따뜻하게 놀 수 있어요”. They have also demonstrated consistent mastery of quality language appropriate to the level by using controlled Korean sentence structures with conjunctions such as “그러면, 하지만, 그럼”.

The student has demonstrated interactive strategies that enhance conversation, e.g. anticipating and responding to conversational cues: “좋은 생각이에요, 그렇군요”, and engaging with and extending on a specific detail in her partner’s responses by asking elaborating questions and confirming information shared.

Inconsistencies are very minor and do not hinder communication.
