AS 91416 Clarification

Clarification for AS 91416: Perform two programmes of music as a featured soloist

Clarification details

Updated December 2017. This document has been updated as the number of pieces to be performed and guidelines for their duration have changed.

The purpose of clarifications

We create clarification documents to help people understand the current requirements of achievement standards. Clarifications do not introduce new criteria, change the intent of the standard, or change what we expect from assessment.

These documents unpack and explain the language and intent of the standard so people interpret and apply the standard consistently. We provide examples or guidance as illustrations only. They are not prescriptions or requirements.

For official requirements, always refer to the current version of the achievement standard as published by NZQA.

Suggested programme length

Performers will present two recitals at different times during the year, which will typically consist of two pieces played consecutively. This constitutes one programme. An indication of length would be approximately 5 to 8 minutes in total for one recital/programme. Twelve to 15 minutes performed in total over the course of the year would allow students the time to display performance skills expected at this curriculum level.
