AS 91282 Clarification

Clarification for AS 91282: Describe personal involvement in a social action related to rights and responsibilities

Clarification details

Updated December 2020. The sections ‘Points of view, values and perspectives’, and ‘Rights and responsibilities’ have been updated to address new issues that have arisen from moderation.

Evidence of personal involvement in group work

Students must take part in a social action, not just observe or report on one. Although group work is permitted, specific evidence must be provided of individual contribution to both planning and the social action. Evidence could be individually written reports (‘I’ statements help to show individual participation), video or photographic diaries, signed witness/observer statements and/or any other method where information can be stored and retrieved.

Points of view, values and perspectives

For 91282, the evidence should describe points of view, values and perspectives, and how they relate to the social action. After describing different points of view relating to the social action students must justify their personal position.

A document clarifying the requirements of ‘Points of view, values and perspectives’ for all internal Social Studies standards at levels 2 and 3 can be found below.

Clarification on points of view, values and perspectives

Rights and responsibilities

Rights and responsibilities can be examined in terms of either the participants of the social action, or from the point of view of those who would benefit from the social action that the issue is trying to address. For Achieved, the plan for the action must clearly describe the ways in which the rights and responsibilities of others have been considered.
