SAC for end-of year external exams
Schools must attach SAC provisions to each student’s exam sessions so students get the SAC support they need for each exam. The Exam Centre Manager (ECM) needs time to plan rooms, exam assistants and supervisors for the exam period.
Personalised special papers can only be provided if SAC provisions are attached to exam sessions before 1 September.
The school's Principal's Nominee or SENCO decide if a student should have small group or isolated, separate accommodation.
Schools, submit your external exam entries to NZQA as early as possible so you're ready to attach SAC to exam sessions.
The process opens on 1 July and you should finish attaching SAC entitlements to exam sessions by the first week of September.

SAC for submitted external standards
Schools should provide SAC, where it's appropriate, for all external standards where a student’s work is submitted to NZQA for assessment.
Check the relevant assessment specifications for any exclusions and to confirm which types of SAC are appropriate.
SAC for Literacy and Numeracy and Te Reo Matatini me te Pāngarau assessments
If a student is only sitting co-requisite assessments and no other NCEA assessments in the current year, schools don’t have to apply to NZQA to provide SAC.
Schools determine the type and level of support, based on student need and the teacher's professional judgement.
If a student has a SAC provision for other assessments, schools must provide it for co-requisite assessments.

SAC and digital external assessment
Students can sit some end-of-year exams and the co-requisite assessments digitally.
Schools, consider whether digital exams are appropriate for SAC students. Think about each student's specific circumstances and the impact of resourcing and logistics.
If a student has complex issues that require specialised support, please contact the NZQA SAC team.
When students sit digital exams, they must use a computer. Schools don’t have to attach the SAC Computer Use provision to these exams.
