When you can't apply Special Assessment Conditions to assessments

Internal assessments

Schools should provide SAC for all assessments unless there is a clear and considered reason for not doing so. They use their professional judgement to decide if a student’s use of SAC is appropriate for a particular assessment.

There is no list of internally assessed standards that exclude SAC.

Schools need to consider:

• student needs and required conditions of assessment in each situation
• the general SAC principles that guide assessment for all standards, the general principles of assessment, and the achievement criteria and explanatory notes for each standard
• how manageable SAC is for the student for each standard.

Sometimes an alternative approach to assessment (for example, a video or podcast) may better meet the student’s needs without compromising the integrity of the assessment.

Students can also use assistive technology for internal assessments if it's used in a way that's consistent with the above principles.
