Managing National Assessment (MNA) Whakawākanga Aromatawai ā-Motu
A term that covers processes schools use to make sure their internal assessment is valid, fair, accurate and consistent.
Schools work with NZQA, while NZQA checks that a school's processes and systems produce effective decisions during internal assessment. NZQA then reports on the process and systems.

NZQA appoints and trains markers to make sure assessment judgements are valid, fair and consistent. NZQA allocates them answer booklets to mark.

Mātauranga Māori Evaluative Quality Assurance (MM EQA) is a quality assurance approach that examines an organisation through a mātauranga Māori perspective.
It adapts existing quality assurance so NZQA can examine a organisation's performance and capability when they use kaupapa Māori methods or teach Māori knowledge and approaches.

Monitor Kaitirotiro
A person who independently monitors degrees and related qualifications.
They tell NZQA if the degree programme is being delivered as its approval and accreditation requires, and if the programme meets stakeholders' needs.
