Degree Tohu paetahi, paerua

A qualification awarded after satisfactory completion of a programme of advanced learning that is taught mainly by people engaged in research and emphasises general principles and basic knowledge as the basis for self-directed work and learning.

Delivery Tukunga

The various aspects of a provided learning experience, including the content and context of the programme, resources, staff, teaching and learning strategies and assessment activities.

Candidates who through illness or misadventure have been prevented from sitting exams, or who consider that their performance in an external assessment has been seriously impaired because of exceptional circumstances beyond their control, may apply to NZQA to be awarded a derived grade.

A derived grade is based solely on the student's pre-existing standard-specific evidence held by the school.

Directory of Assessment Standards Rārangi Paetae Aromatawai

The Directory of Assessment Standards (previously part of the National Qualifications Framework) lists all quality-assured unit and achievement standards, known collectively as 'assessment standards'.

Discretionary Entrance Whakauru Matawhāitihanga

The Discretionary Entrance Regulations were published in July 2002 and came into force in 2003. They provide a route to university study for students under 20 years of age who have not continued secondary education beyond Year 12.

Domestic student Ākonga tara ā-whare

A domestic student is someone who is either a) a New Zealand citizen, b) the holder of a residence class visa, or c) required by the Minister or Gazette notice to be treated as if they are not an international student.
